The End-Of-Year Downshift

It’s December and a lot of folks are starting to downshift…

While many of you (okay, maybe just the guys on my rugby team) will be doing something like this later this month, others like to use the coming weeks as a chance to stop and think. Even if this is one of the busiest times of the year for you (this is true for us here at CSR), there is a definite shift of attention from transactional, business items to more of a musing of what the past year was about and what is coming.

Take advantage of this. Without the day to day pressures of the business stressing you, think about what went right, what went wrong, and what you learned about it. Think about your team and what you can do for each person on it to help them be better versions of themselves. Finally, think about what next year at this time will look like – use this as an opportunity to “review” the coming year and what you would like to have achieved.

Finally, regardless of whether this was the best year you’ve had or a nightmare, be grateful – it can always be worse.
