Before you think, “Ah, gratitude – in terms of sending your kids back to school” – that’s not what I mean.
I’ve written a Back to School post for a few years now and this time around is a little different. You see, I have 5 kids and the elder two are educators. These daughters of mine have decided that they want to forego the kind of income and economic situation that they are eminently qualified for to teach. And to teach kids that are on the lower socio-economic end. I am grateful for their generosity, sense of mission, and drive as they head back into the classroom to give these children what no one else can give them.
As for me, I’m grateful for this time of year as it is one of our “selling times”. It’s funny because it doesn’t matter how old you are, when this time of year comes around, it’s an instinct to come out of the summer languor, look around, get serious and focus on the rest of the year. For what we do, we are glad because with a focused and engaged client, we can do miracles!
For this year’s Back to School message: Be grateful – don’t dwell on the past, don’t obsess about the future and focus on the now.
